As every year, the
traditional Carnival Parade has filled the streets of Cervera with
people of all ages dressed up with the most original costumes.
This year, the event took
place the 18th of February on the city streets, and more
than 400 people participated in a total of 8 “comparses”.
The parade was headed with
the Carnival King and some scarecrow, from the local theatre company
Greep Teatre. It was followed by the music of the Bombollers, that
plays percussion, and the “comparses”.
They walked through
the city centre until the sports hall, where the Carnival King made a
speech, and then some representatives of the city hall gave the
prizes to the best costumes. The first prize was for Josep Arques
School, where some of its students were dressed up as pencils;
followed by “Agrupament Escolta i Guia Coll de les Savines”, who were dressed as "jack-in-the-boxes", and “Coral infantil Nova Cervera”, who took in a western theme.
